Dear Families,
This week we are learning
about North Carolina ’s
first prehistoric inhabitants, the 5 kingdoms of life, and introducing our
periodicals, Weekly Reader and National Geographic.
Today, we had a special guest speaker in our
class who shared with us her experiences in Swaziland
and South Africa .
As we get deeper in our studies of our Kidsfest countries, we will inevitably
talk about the low mortality rate in Swaziland as a result of HIV (about
40-45% of the people are HIV infected). Although we will handle this as
delicately as possible in class, please be aware that your child may have some
questions that we will defer to you. Thank you!
Please keep in mind our 6th
grade dinner theatre on Thursday night, November 1. We will be
sending home final plans in the next few days!
We have attached last week’s
progress reports; as always, please sign and return. Thank you!
The children are doing well,
managing their time, and making good choices. We are encouraging them to become
more independent with and responsible for their actions and choices. It’s
amazing to see them rise to those expectations.
Thank you for all that you
do,
Amy and Darla
